Introducing Comprendo: Simplifying Solutions Through AI

Want to see what happens when a side project gets out of control? We are excited to unveil Comprendo. Comprendo is the end result of our curiosity leading to experimentation leading to new possibilities for applying AI to today's business challenges.

I have to admit, although I recognized the power of ChatGPT, initially I didn't understand how a Large Language Model (LLM) could be applied more broadly. After all, LLMs are trained on enormous amounts of data but they aren't trained on your data. Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), is a technique that solves this problem by adding your data to the LLM, enabling responses based on your knowledge base and specific context.

As a former engineer, I often found myself navigating a maze of product help documentation, seeking answers that seemed just out of Google's reach. The emergence of widely available LLMs and RAG led us to an experiment: Can we just talk to our help documentation and get the answer we need?

The answer is yes.

Not only can you "talk" to your documentation but it works far better than expected. Time and again, this approach has proven to be not just adequate, but impressively accurate and insightful. What's more exciting is that this is only the beginning. The capabilities of AI in understanding and generating human-like responses are rapidly evolving, and we're just beginning to explore what's possible.

We are still wordsmithing the heading for Comprendo but right now it's "We Build AI Solutions to Solve Real Problems You Have Today." This resonates with us because, once we recognized the potential of leveraging these models using innovative data architectures, it became clear that they could be applied to address a huge array of challenges.

Not in a theoretical way. These models can be applied to today's existing business challenges. We believe, for example, every product's help and user documentation will eventually be integrated into conversational AI. Instead of calling a help center or navigating a frustrating call tree, users can get the right answer at the right time.

Product help documentation is a great example but it's far from the only one. What if you could point users to the exact place a concept is discussed in a training video? Imagine being able to analyze an entire grantee database with thousands of documents in a few seconds. Maybe you need to translate policy or standard operating procedures into different languages in real-time. Add on top of that the ability to create images, (video is on the way), and synthesize different voices from text and the possibilities for radically transforming existing business challenges explodes.

The emergence of these AI capabilities feels reminiscent of the early days of the internet when having a website was a novel concept. We believe we're at the start of a similar revolution, where AI is set to transform processes and applications across all industries.
